A 2,8 km city walk along all the others tourist, but a must see if it the first time you are in Copenhagen

Start from Tivoli and go to City Hall Square. Turn to the right along HC Andersens Boulevard.

Come to the cross with Glyptoteket (wonderful view) and turn to the left. On your right side you will pass the National Museum and Thorvaldsens Museum (both beautiful sites) and Frederiksholms Kanal on your left with nice housing. Follow the street that will slightly turn to the right and walk by Christiansborg (Parlament Building) and Stock Exchange. Turn to the left and cross the bridge.

Following the canal go back towards the canal until you reach Amager Torv.

Here you can enjoy several important places for the city.

  • Cafe Europa (very popular and the most expencive cafe in the city with beautiful interior and lovely view.
  • Georg Jensen
  • Illums Bolighus
  • Illum department store
Turn to the right and walk through shopping area (pedestrian street) until you reach Kgs Nytorv and a minute later Nyhavn. (The old Port).

Nyhavn is one of the largest tourist traps in the world.

Walk and enjoy the place, but do yourself a favour and DO NOT eat or drink there. The restaurants in Nyhavn are famous for high prices and poor quality and usually you will only have company of other foreign and Danish tourists.
